Cream cheese is one of those things that most people enjoy but maybe they are not jumping at the recipes where they are a main ingredient. I want to be clear that when I say “a block of cream cheese” – I mean the denser version of cream cheese that usually comes wrapped in foil and in a small box. It also has a slightly higher fat content and no real air content. You cannot use it interchangeably with a whipped cream cheese product. There are really lots of options that go far beyond smearing it on a bagel, it make for great sides, snacks, desserts and main dishes. In an effort to help you try lots of different recipes, I have put together a collection of 10 Recipes Using a Block of Cream Cheese for you to check out.

Chile Relleno Soup – Creamy, cheesy soup always warms the heart and the belly. Three Cheese Steak Quesadilla– Quesadillas are so great for a weeknight meal – or a lunch. They do not have to be entirely Mexican flavored either. I like to do a cheese (or multiple cheeses), a protein and a veggie or two all in a flour tortilla. But you can also go vegetarian and omit the meat. Either way this Triple Cheese Steak Quesadilla is going to be a win all the way around.
