This has been one of my most well recieved sauces that I have made in recent years. As someone who is, personally, not a fan of avocado on it’s own, I adore this sauce. It is also super versatile. you can add it to your eggs, put it on taco pizza, in your burritos, tacos, nachos, or even just as dip for your chips in. This recipe for Avocado Tomatillo Sauce is going to be an excellent addition to your sauce options.

While it is not strictly necessary that you have a smoothie blender to make this sauce, it does make it way easier. You get a perfectly smooth consitency which is so much more enjoyable, texture wise. If you are having trouble finding tomatillos, visit your local mmexican market. Usually you can find them in your regular grocery next to all of the fresh herbs and peppers. They are small green orbs that are wrapped in a sort of husk. They look like green tomatoes but in fact are related to gooseberries.
Substitutes and Variations:
If you want to bump up or down the heat level, you anplay with the amount of jalapeno you add to the the mix. You can also remove or include the seeds to do that same thing. If you want this to be a roja sauce, you can add a couple of roma tomatoes to the blender. This gives a lovely extra layer of flavor.
Suggestions for Uses:
This sauce has a lot of bold flavor but really works in a different dishes. It is so good in a breakfast burrito. And awesome on Taco Pizza. I love to use it on a black bean and rice bowl with some carne asada too! Really its just a very versatile sauce.
Tools that may make this recipe easier:
Like I mentioned above, a smoothie blender or personal blenader makes this super easy to make. I also like to use mason jars to store the sauce. You can easily pour from the jar when you want to serve it up and you can store it airtight in the fridge.
