Freshness is the key to a good Pico de Gallo. A super popular chunky and spicy Mexican salsa that must be fresh. With a limited ingredients list – this recipe is more about how it’s prepared than what goes into it. The recipe for Easy Pico de Gallo is simple, quick, and flavor packed.

The knife cuts are crucial to success with this recipe. Which means you really need a very sharp knife as well as a good knife. You keep your knife share by regularly sharpening it. To reduce the nicks and chunks of your knife- you also need quality steel. If you are not comfortable sharpening your knives yourself, it is well worth it to take them to be sharpened. In fact there are lots of mobile knife sharpeners that will come to your home and sharpen them inside their work van right in your driveway. When you are cutting your onions and tomatoes, you want them to be very close to the same size.
While bottled lime juice is just fine – I do really prefer fresh limes for this recipe. Really, all the ingredients need to be as fresh as possible. You can use this recipe for your next taco night for sure, but it’s also great for Fajitas, burritos, nachos, and taco salads.
