The first time I tried to make these crackers it was a mess…because I didn’t follow the recipe correctly. I honestly thought there was no way it was that simple. Seriously 3 ingredients and you get delicious crunchy crispy crackers. This recipe for Everything Crackers (made with #sourdoughdiscard) is going to be a favorite in your house – as I make it at least once a week in my house.

You do not just have to make Everything Seasoning crackers with this recipe – you can make all sorts of flavor combos. That said – if you use a different flavors, make sure sure to adjust for salt. The Everything Seasoning mixture that I use has a lot of salt in it, so I don’t add any salt to the butter and discard mixture. If you flavor choice does not have much or enough salt content, then you are going to want to add some sea salt (about 1/2 a teaspoon). I have made garlic parmesan crackers, onion and chive is a good combo too.

Make no mistake this recipe does not include a recipe for a sourdough starter. You will need to have your own starter that you are maintaining and feeding. Discard is just a sourdough starter that isn’t being turned into sourdough bread. If you don’t discard some of the starter when you feed it, you will end up with gallons and gallons of it. So sourdough mamas have to find other uses bc who wants to waste that liquid gold. If you are interested in purchasing a sourdough starter – I highly recommend the dehydrated starter from The Sourdough Nook.

If you get the chance to save any of these (they are usually gone in the first two days in my house), you will want to do something extra work to get them into an airtight container so they don’t looks their crunch. The best method I have found is to put them in a mason jar and then use one of these vacuum lid sealers. It removes all the air and keeps them crunchy for a couple weeks.
