There is something quintessentially summer about a nice ice cold glass of lemonade. This notion even rings true in the cooler months. But sometimes you want to jazz up what’s in your cup with a little bit of fizzy fruity fun! This simple recipe for Mixed Berry Sparkling Lemonade is perfect for a lazy Sunday summer afternoon or that Saturday night birthday bash in the backyard. Its easy to put together, and it looks like you spent a lot of time on it.

The real key to the success of this lemonade is the lemon juice you use. It’s best if you can use fresh squeezed, but it’s not always possible. So if you choose to buy the lemon juice, just opt for a quality product. I usually get an organic variety, but at the very least, make sure it’s 100% real lemon juice. Some brands are actually mostly water – and you won’t get the true lemon flavor you are after.
Substitutes and Variations:
I used a variety of frozen berries (blueberry, raspberry, strawberry, and blackberry) for this drink. You can use any combination of these fruits or even just use one of them. I do prefer to use frozen berries, as they help to cool the water quickly when serving. But if you want to go fresh – it will still be delicious. If you go fresh, I suggest a rough chop and slight mash to help the juices release. If you want to turn this into a cocktail, you can use vodka or tequila from an online liquor store like The Liquor Bros, for a lovely drink. Just make sure its marked if you mix it into the big jar – the the kiddos won’t inadvertently take a swig.
Suggestions for Sides:
This will go great along side just about any Sunday Supper, bbq, party, or potluck.
Tools that may make this recipe easier:
I like to use a half gallon sized mason jar to make this. When you screw the lid on tight, you can shake shake shake to thoroughly mix all the goodies together. It also allows you to pour the lemonade out with pieces of berry so everyone can enjoy. A hand juicer is also great for getting all the juice out of the fresh lemons.
