Welcome to the Weekly Book Report and Book Review Link-up #9!
Every Wednesday I will be sharing my latest read – which could be a cookbook, a celebrity chef biography or memoir, a lifestyle book, a gardening book, a homemaking book or maybe even a cozy kitchen mystery book. They may be paper books, eBooks, or audio books. I have challenged myself to read or listen to at least one book per week, and I plan to share that with you all here.

In addition to my Book Report, there will be a Book Report LInky – a chance for all of you to share your own book review blog post (ONE per blog, please). We want to see what had you page flipping, can’t put it down, totally captivated.
Lastly will be a Featured post from the previous week’s shared posts. This will be a post picked at random by the host. Each host will likely pick their own feature – so that’s three chances to be featured!
If you have any suggestions for me on book I should check out – please let me know!
Title: The Rooted Life:Cultivating Health and Wholeness Through Growing Your Own Foodhttps://amzn.to/3I42b4O
Author: Justin Rhodes
Publication Date: March 2022
Published by: Faith Books
Listed Price: $11.49 (hardcover), $17.09 (audiobook)
About the Author:
A permaculture expert and popular YouTube Homesteader shares the skills and the delights of becoming a part of your own food story in this inspiring, accessible, and beautiful invitation to a more abundant, healthy, and connected life.
Brief Description of the book:
Have you ever wanted to experiment with growing your own food but didn’t think you had the space, the time, or the knowledge? Justin Rhodes thought the same thing—until after years battling systemic illness and struggling to provide the kind of wholesome food he wanted for his family, he bought a seed packet at the grocery store and was hooked! Justin discovered the miraculous potential and empowerment of working with nature to grow food for his family, and since that discovery, he has shared his self-taught skills with hundreds of thousands of growers via his popular YouTube channel and website. Whether you’re looking for greater food security, better health, tastier food, to save or earn money, connect with your food source, this book is for you. If you’re looking for a different kind of life—a life focused on health and wellness—take a look down the road less traveled.
My Review:
This book is less of a “How to” and more of a “Why Do” which honestly was what I needed to hear when I had this book suggested to me by Audible. I have a 25 minute drive to work and back each way. So that’s almost an hour to listen to a book. Making a book like this take about a week to finish. It really works for me. Justin takes his time walking you through some concepts that you really don’t understand until you try to homestead and experience it. He takes the pressure off of you to be perfect on your first try. His soothing voice and slow southern drawl pulls you into a sense of security. I will say he has a few words that grated by nerves (buddy there is no D in important!). Over all his anecdotes and know how are a great read/listen for anyone looking to get back to nature and closer to their food again.
