In a large saute pan over medium-high heat, add sausage, onions and garlic. Cook and crumble until no longer pink. (Try not to leave any larger chunks of sausage).
Add orzo and 1½ quarts of broth, stir to combine. Reduce heat to medium and cover with lid. Let cook for 15 minutes.
Remove lid and add remaining broth, cheese and broccoli. Cover with lid, remove from heat and let sit for 5 minutes before removing lid to serve.
