In a large saute pan over medium-high heat, add oil, onion, and garlic. Saute for 3 minutes then add sausage chunks. Saute another 5 minutes.
In a bowl, combine broth, tomato puree, cornstarch, pasta and seasonings. Add to saute pan and reduce heat to medium. Bring just to a bubble then cover. Reduce heat to medium-low and let cook for 15 minutes.
Remove lid and stir in cheese and heavy cream. Replace lid and let cook another 5 minutes. Remove from heat and let sit for 5 minutes, then stir thoroughly before serving.
